I have got the impression that the terrible weed Convolvulus arvensis in the vegetable garden is finally under control. Especially now that I added another thick layer of fresh straw from a big `jumbo` bale, a present from the farmer who harvested the neighbouring cereal field. The vegetable garden (250m2) also receives the regular hay harvest from my own terrain but this is really not enough for a decent mulch layer.

The fence which was installed in spring is doing its job, keeping out the wild boar which were ploughing my garden rather drastically, but I have still got other intruders. A badger or fox is regularly digging in the wet soil upsetting the irrigation tubes and what is worse: it eats all the tomatoes at the moment when they start to get some colour. In fact, all the coloured tomatoes in the image disappeared during one night. Perhaps I will have to make the fences higher or rely less on the thick hedges of brambles which in some parts replace the fence.

Tengo la impresión que la terrible hierba Convolvulus arvensis en el huerto esta finalmente bajo control. Sobre todo ahora cuando acabo de colocar una densa capa de paja fresca de una bala 'jumbo', regalada por el agricultor que cosechó el campo de cereal al lado. El huerto (250m2) también recibe la cosecha de heno de mi propio terreno pero esto realmente no es suficiente para una capa decente de acolchado.

La valla que se instaló en primavera está haciendo su trabajo, cortando la entrada de los jabalís que estaban labrando mi huerto algo demasiado drástico, pero todavía tengo otros intrusos. Un tejón o zorro esta frecuentemente excavando el suelo húmedo y trastocando los tubos de riego y lo que es peor: come todos los tomates en cuanto empiezan a colorear lo mas mínimo. De hecho, todos los tomates colorados en la imagen desaparecieron a lo largo de una noche. Quizás tengo que hacer las vallas más altas o fiarme menos de los densos setos de zarzas que hacen su función de valla en algunas partes.
