The open `wound` of the new door is healing nicely. It took quite some wet clay with straw to fill and consolidate the wall again but the results so far indicate that it is perfectly possible to open new doors or windows in an existing straw bale wall.
Watch the sliding door and the cupboard, installed to exploit the space and possibilities of the relatively wide doorway.

The earthen floor being swept has received another layer (15mm) of a mixture of sand (75%), clayey soil (25%), both sieved with a 2mm sieve, and water. The mixture seems adequate because there aren`t any noticeable cracks. The surface is quite level (with a very small angle towards the bathroom) although not perfectly smooth, but that might add up to the organic feel of the material.

The next step are the four layers of linseed oil (raw), with increasing additions (up to 75%) of turpentine (not mineral).

La `herida` abierta de la nueva puerta esta curándose bien. Se utilizó bastante arcilla muy húmeda con paja, para rellenar y consolidar el muro pero los resultados hasta ahora parecen indicar que es perfectamente posible abrir nuevas puertas o ventanas en un muro de balas de paja existente.
Observa la puerta corredera y el armario, instalados para aprovechar el espacio y las posibilidades del arco relativamente ancho de esta puerta.

El suelo de tierra que estoy barriendo recibió otra capa (15mm) de una mezcla de arena (75%), tierra arcillosa (25%), ambas cribadas con una criba de 2mm, y agua. La mezcla parece acertada porque no aparecen grietas notables. La superficie está bastante nivelada (con una ligera inclinación hacia el cuarto del baño) aunque no del todo liso, pero esto puede favorecer el aspecto orgánico de este suelo.
El siguiente paso son las 4 capas de aceite de linaza (crudo), con adiciones cada vez mas sustanciales (hasta 75%) de trementina (no mineral).
