Pyramidal Orchid

The Orchid species (eight in the zone) are doing especially well this year, after a very rainy winter and spring. Of the Pyramidal Orchid (Anacamptis pyramidalis; on the photo) I counted 49 flowering plants with 6 growing on a new location, about 10 meters from the main spot. The Lady orchid (Orchis purpurea) is now setting fruit and 6 weeks ago I counted 82 plants, most of them flowering. The parasitic Violet Limodore (Limodorum abortivum) appeared on two new locations, while on the traditional spot it is uprooted every spring, probably by a wild boar.

Las epecies de orchideas (ocho en la zona) tiran excepcionalmente bien este año, después de un invierno y primavera lluviosa. De Anacamptis pyramidalis (en la foto) conté 49 ejemplares en flor, con 6 plantas creciendo en un lugar nuevo, unos 10 metros de la area principal. La Orchis purpurea esta ahora en fruto y hace 6 semanas conté 82 plantas, la mayoría en flor. La parasítica Limodorum abortivum aparece en dos nuevos lugares, mientras en su sitio tradicional es arrancado cada primavera, probablemente por un jabalí.
